About BankCreditGuide

Buying a home means signing a stack of documents most people see once or twice in their lives. BankCreditGuide exists to make that stack readable. We write about U.S. mortgages: how home loans are priced, what lenders look at, what the Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure actually say, and when refinancing or borrowing against your equity makes sense.

What you’ll find here

  • Mortgage Basics: how payments are built, fixed and adjustable rates, loan programs and fees.
  • Buying a Home: pre-approval, down payments, mortgage insurance and your closing documents.
  • Refinancing and Equity: refinancing, HELOCs, home equity loans and the mortgage interest deduction.

Our approach

We show the math. Most guides include a worked example with round numbers, so you can redo the calculation with your own figures. Rules and limits come from the agencies that set them: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the IRS, HUD, the VA, USDA Rural Development and the Federal Housing Finance Agency. We draft with the help of AI tools, then check every figure against those sources before anything goes live.

What we’re not

We aren’t a lender, a broker or a loan marketplace. We don’t take applications, pass your details to lenders or get paid when you choose a loan, and nobody pays to be mentioned on this site.
